My top stories of 2022
I previously mentioned that I used to hate writing and it’s something that I’ve been honing over the past . So I’m proud to finally compile a list of some of my favorite top pieces that I’ve written this year. This was originally posted as a Twitter thread.
This year I have written/edited over 20 blogs and created a monthly newsletter for City Year, designed graphics for the South Philly Community Fridge, and redesigned this website.
Here’s a compilation of some of my favorite work in 2022…
Blogs for City Year
From “not a math person” to a City Year math learner
I interviewed City Year’s Senior National Math Director Kristen Olmsted. We discussed the difference between a “math learner” and a “math person” and how this helps students build confidence.
City Year offers caring, consistent student support
Providing consistent support for students has been imperative during the pandemic. I interviewed staff at City Year Sacramento and City Year Columbus on how City Year staff and AmeriCorps members have been building community amongst each other and in their schools.
How City Year AmeriCorps grow student literacy
Literacy is the ability to read and write. Building literacy skills can vary based on grade level, school, and who the tutor is. So how do City Year AmeriCorps members support building student literacy? I talk with City Year’s Senior National Literacy Director Allison Thompson to find out.
Graphics for the fridge 💗
Such an incredible year for the South Philly Community Fridge! I am so grateful to be part of such a supportive community.
I write for fun too!
Have you checked out some of my work or my blog? I write for fun too, thanks to The Isolation Journals. Stay tuned for more personal blogs from me. 😉
